Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen is een rockzanger, gitarist en schrijver van liedjes. Hij werd geboren op 23 september 1949 in het Amerikaanse Long Branch in de staat New Jersey. Hij staat ook bekend onder de naam “The Boss”.

De vader van Bruce is van Iers-Nederlandse en zijn moeder van Italiaanse afkomst. Vanaf de jaren '60 speelde Springsteen in meerdere bands, waaronder The Castiles, Steel Mill en Dr. Zoom and The Sonic Boom.

Springsteens doorbraak kwam vooral na zijn derde album: Born to Run (augustus 1975).

In de herfst van 1993 nam Springsteen het nummer Streets of Philadelphia op, voor de soundtrack van de film Philadelphia. Het nummer werd in 1994 een top-10-hit en Springsteen ontving er een Oscar voor Beste Song en een Grammy voor.

Persoonlijk vind ik ook de video die verscheen bij zijn lied Streets of Philadelphia bijzonder smaakvol.


Wereldberoemd van Bruce Springsteen is ook zijn lied "Born in the USA"

Het instrumentale Albatross



Fleetwood Mac is een Britse band die in 1967 werd opgericht door Peter Green (zang, gitaar en mondharmonica), Mick Fleetwood (drums), John McVie (bas) en Danny Kirwan (gitaar).

Aanvankelijk begon de formatie als bluesband, maar evolueerde in de loop der jaren tot een popgroep.

Eind 1974 vestigden de leden van de band zich in Californië. Met de komst van het duo Stevie Nicks en Lindsey Buckingham kreeg de groep een belangrijke nieuwe impuls.

De band is vooral bekend door hun songs als Go Your Own Way, Dreams, Everywhere, Sara, Little Lies en het instrumentale Albatross.

The Connells zijn een Amerikaanse band uit Raleigh, North Carolina. Ze maken een op de gitaar gebaseerde zogenoemde melodische powerpop. De muziek wordt ook wel omschreven als alternative rock, college rock, jangle pop, indie rock of Southern rock.

De band werd in 1984 opgericht door gitarist Mike Connell samen met zijn broer David Connell op bas. In de loop van de tijd ondergingen de Connells veel wisselingen van bandleden.

Momenteel geeft de groep slechts een handvol optredens per jaar, meestal in het zuiden van de Verenigde Staten. Dit gebeurt dan meestal bij benefietconcerten en muziekfestivals, maar voor deze gelegenheid zijn ze te vinden op mijn weblog.
